Why we leave a messy corner for the bees
Tidiness is overrated, at least in one corner of the garden.

The pollinator patch looks untidy on purpose. Seed heads stay standing over winter, a few hollow stems are left in place and the borage is allowed to sprawl.
Many native bees nest in hollow stems or bare soil. A garden that is cleared every autumn has fewer places for them.
If you want to help, the pollinator patch group meets on the first Saturday of the month. The job is mostly looking.
Written for the Seedlark Commons concept. The garden, its people and the events described are invented.
